Sometimes it's easier to connect with students if they know a little about the teacher as a person. On this page I'll
tell my class a little about myself.
I teach Portuguese I, II and III at Admiral William Halsey Leadership Academy at tge E. H. S. Public Schools. My
hobbies are: reading, jogging, play soccer, listening to music and my interests are Computer Programming, The Stock Market
and World Language Education, Portuguese Culture, sports and science. I first became interest in my subject when I started
tutoring students at Rutgers University in Algebra and Portuguese Literature. I graduated from Rutgers with a BA in Computer
Science and in Portuguese both with Honors. Also, I studied at the University of Coimbra in Portugal and completed my
Masters in Education with a concentration in incorporating technology in the classroom at Walden University.
I was the Portuguese Honors Society Advisor for 5 years for the Elizabeth High School - I am the
Girls Varsity Head Coach for the 6th year in a row. I am "B" ceritified by the NSCAA, have the High School
Soccer Coaches Diploma, and have attended inumerous soccer clinics at Rutgers University and many other Universities. My
favorite magazines are the "Time Magazine and National Geographic." I love to read books in particular science-fiction.
My favorite Portuguese book is "Os Lusiadas, from Luis Vaz de Camões." who is the best Portuguese poet of all times. My favorite
type of movies are comedy and science fiction in addition to Nature documentaries like Planet Earth. I enjoy playing sports
during my free time: ping pong, tennis and soccer. My favorite soccer team is SPORTING CLUB PORTUGAL and my three
favorite soccer players of all time are: "Eusebio, Pelé, Maradona and Figo." |
